Strange Rangers injury news emerges on Nicolas Raskin issue in last 24 hours
Michael Beale has admitted that the injury to Nicolas Raskin was “strange” but the Rangers midfielder is fine after going off in the second half of the victory against Hibernian on Sunday (21 May).
The Belgian youngster was forced off the pitch after 53 minutes at Easter Road and replaced by Scott Arfield after a nasty-looking clash that resulted in treatment from the Gers medical staff.
However, as reported by the Daily Record [22 May, page 43], Beale admitted that the 22-year-old’s injury didn’t seem too serious.

“He said: ‘Nico’s fine. It was a strange one – a clash of knees – and I just think it’s touched a bit of a nerve,” they wrote.
“‘He wanted to continue but when he got up and put weight on it, he knew he couldn’t.'”

Relief for Beale
Beale will be counting his lucky stars that Raskin’s issue wasn’t too serious, considering some of the other injuries he has in his first-team squad.
The Rangers boss admitted that he was down to his bare bones for the trip to Leigh, with Alfredo Morelos and Glen Kamara picking up injuries in training in the week and Scott Wright also unable to feature in the clash due to injury.
The fact that he had up to 12 players unavailable, but his side still managed to come through the match as resounding victors speaks volumes of the performance.
In particular, the midfield balance that Ryan Jack, John Lundstram and Raskin managed to strike will be interesting to watch moving forward.
With Jack having already penned a new deal at Ibrox it will be intriguing to see if John Lundstram is offered the chance to extend his stay beyond 2024.
One player who is certainly here to say is Raskin, and the Gers boss will be breathing a big sigh of relief that his knee injury isn’t as serious as first thought.
