Bologna in contact with Alfredo Morelos agent as Fenerbahce back away from Rangers striker

Serie A side Bologna have held talks with Rangers star Alfredo Morelos about a summer transfer after Fenerbahce backed away from a deal.

Previous reports suggested that the Colombian international had already agreed a move to Turkey, however it’s now been suggested that they have distanced themselves from the move as they want a “better name”.

And according to Fotomac (22 May), Bologna have been holding talks with the striker’s agent “for some time” and are strongly interested in bringing him to Italy when his contract at Rangers expires at the end of this month.

It’s a shame that Morelos is out of contract because it’s quite clear that there are still several clubs interested in his signature and we could have made some decent money out of his exit.

This summer is likely to be incredibly busy with lots of players coming and going at Ibrox, with Michael Beale keen to bolster the squad and shape it into his own image.

Morelos no longer fits into that mould and will be moved on, but there’s no doubt some regret at Rangers at the fact that we could have sold him for arguably somewhere in the eight-figure region as recently as 12 months ago.

Considering the amount of money that will be needed, that would have gone an incredibly long way to getting the squad stronger and able to compete in a short amount of time.

He’ll be leaving the club with the fans waving him goodbye and thanking him for the memories that he managed to secure during his time at Ibrox, but nobody will be mad at the fact he’s leaving at the end of this campaign.

In other Rangers news, an official club partner has reacted to some “disastrous” injury news that could affect next season.
