BBC pundit tells Rangers duo John Lundstram and Borna Barisic to sign 'or be sold' amid development

Kenny Miller has told Rangers to either agree new contracts with John Lundstram and Borna Barisic or sell the pair this summer.

Michael Beale is planning a large squad overhaul during the off-season with Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent set to depart in the coming weeks.

Writing in his latest column for the Daily Record on 21 May, Miller urged Rangers to make a decision on the pair who are entering the final year of their current deals.

“That’s why manager Michael Beale is planning talks with Borna Barisic and John Lundstram about their futures over the summer. Both players have just one year left on their deals.

“So in that scenario, they either have to sign – or be sold. It’s that simple. if they’re not willing to commit the club have a sellable commodity on their hands.”

This is a smart suggestion from Miller and the club would be wise to get discussions underway as soon as possible. We’ve seen the consequences of failing to agree on contracts with Morelos and Kent and Beale will be looking to avoid a similar scenario emerging.

Lundstram is still at an age where he has something to offer and after Ryan Jack’s contract extension, it makes sense for the former Sheffield United man to put pen to paper on a new deal. However, Barisic’s situation could be slightly different.

The Croatian endured a tough start to the season but has markedly improved under Beale. With Ridvan Yilmaz being given more gametime towards the end of the 2022/23 season, there could well be a decision to be made. He’s 30 and certainly past the best years of his career.

This could certainly be one to keep an eye on come the end of the 2022/23 season.
