Michael Beale drops further hint on the scale of his Rangers transfer rebuild

Michael Beale commented on Friday regarding the extent of the clearout that is set to happen at Ibrox this Summer, as reported by the Rangers Review.

The manager spoke of “three or four who will stay” with the Rangers rebuild just around the corner, as he prepares his side for the Scottish Premiership contest away to Hibernian on Sunday.

Ryan Jack is one player whose immediate future has been confirmed with the Scotland international signing a one-year extension with the club.

Beale made the remark when complimenting the qualities of his captain, James Tavernier, who will commence his ninth season at Ibrox when the new campaign gets underway.

“He’s a different kind of leader and he’s really important,” he said.

“He’s one of the three or four who will stay this summer, who have seen a lot of this club.”

Change is coming

It would appear quite unlikely that the former QPR boss is referring to the total number of players currently in the squad who will report for duty when pre-season starts at the end of June so it makes sense that he is talking about core players for his first-choice side.

As well as Tavernier, Connor Goldson will remain a pillar of the team. That pair will provide experience, longevity and continuity for the defence with at least one new goalkeeper to come in, as well as a central defender and quite possibly a new left-back.

In midfield, Nico Raskin and Todd Cantwell are here to stay. That is as obvious as their excellent initial impact since moving to Glasgow in January. Ryan Jack will remain a key figure in and around the team, but he will likely play less games, next term.

Other than that, pretty much everything is up for debate and renewal and particularly in attack. A whole new front line is an exciting prospect and it shows the extent of the change that is coming for Rangers.
