Ross Wilson pulls strings at Rangers as Ibrox chief eyes up Premier League move
Ross Wilson’s departure from Rangers seemed like a lifetime ago with the exits that followed potentially allowing the former sporting director to depart unscathed.
We all knew his time was up. His sell-buy date had long since expired and Wilson couldn’t afford another failed transfer window. His move to Nottingham Forest provided him with a timely escape route from Ibrox.
Wilson was appointed as Forest’s sporting director on 12 April. Over a month has passed since his exit from Ibrox. However, the former sporting director has still left his mark at Ibrox. Football Scotland report (19 May) that Craig Mulholland is set to follow Wilson to the City Ground.

Rangers confirmed that Mulholland would depart at the end of the 2022/23 season after deciding to step down from his role as academy director. The Rangers chief is still at Ibrox at present, but it would not be a surprise to see him end up in the East Midlands.
For John Bennett and James Bisgrove, the focus has to be on landing a new academy director as soon as possible. We’ve seen how important the academy can be in recent years, with the sale of Nathan Patterson providing the club with a significant fee.

It’s an area which has to gain the full attention of the incoming CEO, particularly with Mulholland leaving the club at the end of the 2022/23 season.
It would also be refreshing to see Beale throw one or two younger players into the starting XI for the remaining games of the campaign. He needs to asses whether the likes of Alex Lowry and Adam Devine have a long-term future at the club.
In other Rangers news, one Gers ace will leave and likely move abroad because he isn’t getting enough game time to warrant staying, according to Peter Grant.
