Rangers transfer update as English Championship switch mooted for Scott Wright

Rangers ace Scott Wright is a player that “appears to fit the bill” at Preston North End, according to LancsLive.

The winger is reportedly free to leave Ibrox this summer as Michael Beale shakes things up with a complete overhaul on the cards in Govan.

The 25-year-old has made 83 Gers appearances since joining from Aberdeen in 2021 but has slowly but surely fallen out of favour as time moved on.

“Scott Wright, who has been strongly linked with a move to Preston North End, has been told he is free to leave Scottish side Rangers this summer as part of a revamp,” according to LancsLive.

“North End are in the market for reinforcements this summer as Ryan Lowe looks to strengthen his squad. The former Plymouth Argyle and Bury manager is poised to oversee his second summer transfer window in charge of the Deepdale side.

“Among Lowe’s shopping list for new additions in the coming months is a wide man who can dribble and cause problems to the opposition. Wright appears to fit the bill.”

Uncertain future

As mentioned, Beale is set to shake things up massively at Ibrox this summer, following what has been an underwhelming campaign for the club.

The manager hasn’t exactly done poorly in the dugout, but Gers fans will constantly be on his back for his failures to close the gap on fierce rivals Celtic across various competitions.

And a major part of closing that gap will be bringing in exciting new faces this summer, with plenty of players already close to joining the Scottish giants.

But the signing of many players will also result in several current stars leaving Ibrox at the end of the season, with Wright’s future at the club definitely uncertain.

He has hardly lit up Ibrox this season, with the winger failing to get on the scoresheet while registering just two assists from his 33 matches in all competitions. It really isn’t a good enough return from a player operating in the final third of the pitch.

In other Rangers news, one Gers ace will leave and likely move abroad because he isn’t getting enough game time to warrant staying, according to Peter Grant.
