Midfield has been a real problem area over the last couple of years, with Celtic proving that with their new additions that have dominated easily.

The likes of Steven Davis, John Lundstram and Scott Arfield have not been good enough, and with two of them set to move on this summer, change is coming.

Nicolas Raskin has proved that getting the right profile in midfield will start to swing the balance back in our favour, with Cifuentes only going to add to that.

This is a transfer that should get everyone excited with some very big clubs interested in his signature before Rangers moved in first to get it done.

With European football on the agenda again with Champions League football wanted through qualification, getting these deals done early will only help that.

Documents are signed, it won’t be long until “here we go” in the words of Fabrizio Romano.
