Rangers close in on signing of Jose Cifuentes from LA FC – Fabrizio Romano

Rangers are closing in on the transfer of Jose Cifuentes from Los Angeles FC, with talks progressing to the crucial stages according to Fabrizio Romano.

The light blues are keen to bolster their squad ahead of the new season with Michael Beale admitting they could sign up to a dozen players during the off-season.

And one of those is now likely to be Cifuentes after the club met with his agents, with all parties confident that a deal can be done soon.

“Rangers are advancing for the signing of LAFC midfielder Jose Cifuentes – talks are progressing to crucial stages,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (18 May).

“The agents of the player has met with the club few days ago – all the parties confident to get the deal done soon.”

Rangers are moving swiftly in the transfer market to get deals done even before the current season is over.

Dujon Sterling is said to be wrapped up on a free transfer from Chelsea while Kieran Dowell is set to sign on a free transfer from Norwich too, while there are contrasting reports on Luis Palma from Aris FC and Jack Butland from Crystal Palace.

But it’s clear that the club are working incredibly hard behind the scenes to ensure that Beale has the squad he wants and needs for next season to be able to compete with Celtic and get this team back to where it belongs.

Cifuentes is a very talented player and is wanted by other clubs on the continent too, so it’s a great coup for Rangers to get it over the line and squad is starting to come together for the new campaign nice and early which should mean a strong pre-season.
