Manchester United want to hijack Rangers move for Jack Butland, double your money offer made
Rangers have suffered a major blow in their pursuit of signing Jack Butland on a free transfer after Manchester United offered to double his wages, according to The Sun (17 May).
The light blues were confident of making Butland their new goalkeeper option for next season as they anticipate Allan McGregor’s retirement, with Michael Beale targeting the England international.
But the Red Devils have now moved to hijack the deal and have offered to double his wages to sign him on a free transfer in a deal that would see him act as cover for David De Gea and Dean Henderson next season at Old Trafford.

Rangers had been willing to match his wages at Crystal Palace to bring him to Ibrox and offer him the chance to be number one, but he is now seriously considering staying in England and boosting his bank balance.
Shame
There are certain teams in the world that teams just can’t compete with in the transfer market and one of them is Manchester United.
Unless you’re also among the elite of the elite, financially they’re just untouchable and offering to double the wages of someone who would become your third-choice goalkeeper is just something Rangers can do nothing about.

If the player would rather spend all his time picking splinters out of his bum while sitting in the stands than soaking in the atmosphere at Ibrox and playing regularly then he isn’t one for this club anyway.
He’s obviously not got the right mentality to step in and become the number one here to help us go on to win trophies and compete at the highest level.
It’s a real blow to the club’s plans for the summer window though, surely, and Rangers and Beale now must pivot quickly to bring in whoever the second-choice target is.
In other Rangers news, another transfer is on the rocks after a financial stumbling block emerged.
