Rangers transfer news as Jack Butland deal being pushed at Ibrox

Rangers are still looking to finalise a transfer to sign Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland this summer, according to the Scottish Daily Mail.

The newspaper has reported in its print edition [16 May, pg 71] that the Bears are still looking at the England international, despite scouting Fortuna Sittard stopper Ivor Pandur.

It comes after the Daily Mail have continuously reported that a deal for Butland, who is out of contract this summer, is proving to be too expensive at the moment.

They wrote: “Meanwhile, Rangers scouts watched Fortuna Sittard goalkeeper Ivor Pandur – a Croatia Under-21 cap – in his side’s 2-1 loss to PSV Eindhoven on Sunday.

“The Ibrox club are still aiming to finalise a deal for ex-England international keeper Jack Butland, who is currently on loan at Manchester United from Crystal Palace.”

Get it done.

If Rangers are still pursuing this one, they must believe that they can persuade Butland to lower his demands with a free transfer not exactly expensive.

Currently on loan at Manchester United on Premier League wages, the contract will no doubt be very high, something that the Bears will need to reduce.

James Bisgrove and those in the boardroom involved in negotiations alongside Michael Beale will be trying their hardest to make this work for all parties.

With Allan McGregor and Jon McLaughlin likely both moving on or simply retiring, that leaves us with only Robby McCrorie in between the sticks.

Although he has done himself no harm in his bid to keep the number one shirt, it appears as though a new experienced number one is wanted and Butland is the one.

All eyes are certainly being kept on this one.
