Rangers set to announce Ryan Jack contract as Michael Beale shares fresh update

Rangers are set to announce Ryan Jack’s contract extension as the midfielder commits his future to the Ibrox club, according to Glasgow Live.

The Scotland international is one of a number of players out of contract but looks set to avoid the mass exodus which is on the cards during the off-season.

Michael Beale has confirmed that it’s now “just a matter of announcing” the 31-year-old’s extension.

“It’s really positive, it’s just a matter of announcing it,” said Beale (Glasgow Live, 15 May).

“I have said before that I want Ryan to stay and it’s for days like this. He has been available for 80 to 85 per cent of games this season.”

Out of all the players who are out of contract, Jack is the one who deserves to be handed a new deal. He’s been available for large parts of the season and will always deliver a six or seven-out-of-ten display. This summer promises to be one of change.

Beale has made his transfer wishes very clear and a number of new faces are on the cards. However, it’s important the Rangers boss keeps some experienced heads in and around his squad. Jack is the ideal candidate to remain. He’s still performing at a high level and possesses excellent leadership qualities.

Signing players under the age of 25 is an exciting proposition but Rangers won’t get back to the top with a team full of inexperience. They need the likes of James Tavernier and Jack. One big positive is that Beale is getting his work done early. There are a number of signings in the pipeline and that will please the fanbase.

In other Rangers news, Ibrox “peace talks” are on the cards according to one journalist.
