Rangers news as Kris Boyd selects Team of the Week after 3-0 Old Firm win v Celtic
Kris Boyd has picked four Rangers stars in his SPFL Premiership team of the week, as revealed by the Scottish Sun.
There will be no surprises that Todd Cantwell and Nico Raskin made the cut, after their exemplary performances in the 3-0 Old Firm success for Michael Beale’s side on Saturday.
Rangers’ dominance in the game was summed up by Celtic having no stand-out performer on the day, as agreed by Boyd with no Parkhead players in his team.
John Souttar and Ridvan Yilmaz make up the Ibrox quartet chosen by Boyd, whilst John Lundstram’s inclusion would also have been justified.
Robby McCrorie had a great game in terms of the basics and his stunning save from Matt O’Riley but the truth is that he didn’t have that much to do, overall.
Five other Premiership clubs were represented in the pick of the weekend’s best performers, including Motherwell’s Kevin van Veen who notched his 22nd goal of the league season and his 26th, in total for the campaign.

Outstanding contribution
The ‘star man’ was awarded to Ross County’s Jordan White for his hat-trick against Dundee United which meant the Staggies moved off the bottom spot, swapping places with their opponents with just three games to go in the battle against the drop.
Whilst that was certainly a massive contribution, there won’t have been a more high-quality performance in Scotland over the weekend than that of Cantwell who produced a midfield masterclass against Celtic.
He was tasked with threading the midfield and attack together, whilst doing a job on Callum McGregor but the truth is he did much more than that. He was everywhere.
Pressing, tackling, inspiring, impressing. Skill, technique, work rate, and intensity. His early goal set the tone for what was a fantastic individual display, right through to his hard graft to set up the third, for Fashion Sakala.
The Englishman has set a high bar for himself that he fully intends to surpass as his Ibrox career goes from strength to strength.
In other Rangers news, Michael Beale pursues a brand new £4m transfer for his rebuild for next season, according to this report.
