Rangers transfer news as Michael Beale pursues £4m move for Luis Palma

Michael Beale is said to be determined to land a £4million deal to land Luis Palma from Aris Thessaloniki, according to the Scottish Daily Mail [May 13, Page 126].

The Rangers boss is pursuing the 23-year-old as part of the significant summer revamp of the squad, ahead of his crucial first full season at the helm at Ibrox.

Beale secured his first Old Firm victory on Saturday with a convincing 3-0 result over Celtic which prevents unnecessary noise in the build-up to the new campaign.

With two transfers already well down the line, the Mail report indicated the next target on the list.

“With deals for Norwich midfielder Kieran Dowell and Chelsea defender Dujon Sterling in the offing, Beale is also pursuing a £4million move for Aris Thessaloniki’s Honduran international winger Luis Palma.”

Signal of intent

The early signals point to the changes at Ibrox living up to the expectation of widescale upheaval to transform a squad that had become regressive due to failure to improve.

Standing still will not suffice, especially with a very decent Celtic side marching toward all three domestic trophies in Scotland this season, with two already in the bag as was the case in the last campaign.

Beale knows that he needs to strike back and the first punch was landed with the encouraging 3-0 win over Celtic on Saturday at Ibrox which will provide some timely relief to the supporters after an arduous season.

To take the fight to Parkhead for real, a tooled-up ruthless attack is required with Palma seen as a dangerous weapon for the battles ahead. He could be among several new additions who will arrive in Govan in the coming months with a clear objective, to return Rangers to the summit.
