Allan McGregor Rangers exit confirmed by Michael Beale

Michael Beale has confirmed Allan McGregor will exit Rangers at the end of the 2022/23 season after the Light Blues’ 3-0 win over Celtic.

Robbie McCrorie was given the nod by Beale against the Hoops and earnt himself an impressive clean sheet.

McGregor is out of contract in the summer and the Rangers boss confirmed after the game that one out-of-contract keeper would be departing Ibrox.

“We’re going to lose one keeper this summer because one is out of contract. We’re not in the job of signing bad ones,” said Beale (Football Scotland, 13 May).

Finally

We all knew this move was going to happen. In fact, McGregor’s indecisiveness has caused Rangers issues. Their goalkeeping conundrum could have been rectified last summer and left Beale with one less concern heading into the off-season.

With Jack Butland on his way, it seems like the Rangers boss has a clear idea of who he wants to replace the outgoing Gers legend. Saturday’s victory over the Hoops has provided reason to be positive heading into the off-season.

Rangers

Perhaps the gap between the two sides is not as big as we first thought. Celtic were woeful at Ibrox and they still had a number of first-team players in the starting XI. There’s no way the Bhoys went into the fixture ‘on the beach’. They were there to win and were outclassed.

It’s now up to Beale to get his side in the best shape for when Rangers inevitably face each other before the start of September.

In other Rangers news, the Portugal manager has been raving about the talent of one Ibrox ace.
