Official Rangers partner blown away by what 'incredible' Robby McCrorie did in 3-0 win over Celtic

Rangers official media partners Four Lads Had A Dream have waxed lyrical about the “incredible” performance of Robby McCrorie in the 3-0 win over Celtic on Saturday (13 May).

The goalkeeper recorded his second clean sheet from just his second Scottish Premiership start of the season during the Old Firm victory at Ibrox.

With the match still very much in the balance at 2-0, the 25-year-old produced a stunning one-handed save to deny Hoops midfielder Matt O’Riley with a shot that was otherwise destined for the back of the net.

Taking to Twitter after the commanding win (13 May), Four Lads Had A Dream wrote: “Save at 2-0 was incredible, quick off his line, commanding and assured.

“Deserves great credit.

“Well done Robby.”

Staking his claim

With both Allan McGregor and Jon McLaughlin both expected to leave Rangers at the end of the season, this was a huge opportunity for McCrorie to stake his claim as the club’s long-term number-one goalkeeper, and he did his chances no harm whatsoever.

After recording a clean sheet in the 1-0 win over Aberdeen, the 25-year-old doubled up with an even more impressive performance in between the sticks.

With the game still just about in the balance at 2-0, McCrorie pulled off a quite magnificent stop to deny O’Riley’s looping effort.

The shot-stopper closed down the space between himself and the attacker, stayed on his feet and spread himself eagle wide to get a palm on the goal-bound shot.

Although Rangers are still in links to sign Jack Butland this summer, McCrorie’s recent performances will be giving Michael Beale food for thought in that department.

Another cracking performance from the Scottish-born player and one which was crucial to Rangers picking up all three points against their Old Firm rivals.
