Jeff Stelling reacts to Rangers footage live on Sky Sports in 3-0 win v Celtic
Jeff Stelling has reacted to footage of Fashion Sakala’s third goal for Rangers during the Light Blues’ 3-0 Old Firm win over Celtic.
Goals from the Zambian, John Souttar and Todd Cantwell saw the Gers to their first win over the Hoops during the 2022/23 campaign.
Stelling reacted to Rangers’ victory live on Sky Sports just after Sakala had put Michael Beale’s side three goals ahead.
“One side is utterly dominant as well in the Old Firm clash in the Scottish Premiership and not the side you would anticipate because there’s been a third goal for Rangers,” said Stelling on Sky Sports News (14:06, 13 May).
“They have indeed [turned up] they lead by three goals to nil but it’s just a consolation. Of course, Celtic are already the Champions.”
Needed
That win was certainly needed. It took six attempts, but the Gers finally got one over on the Hoops. Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come in the 2023/24 season. Perhaps the gap between the two sides is not as big as everyone first thought.
Celtic did make changes to their lineup, but they still possess immense strength in depth. Rangers were far too much for Ange Postecoglou’s side in every single aspect and the fans will be excited heading into the new campaign.
If Beale can be busy during the off-season and add six or seven quality additions, there’s a good chance the Light Blues will be competitive next year.

A repeat of this season cannot occur. Celtic winning a domestic treble is about as bad as it gets for the Gers. The worst thing about the 2022/23 campaign is that Rangers were largely responsible. In all their clashes, there were glaring mistakes from Beales’ side.
If they can be eradicated, Rangers stand an excellent chance of making themselves a presence domestically once again.
In other Rangers news, the Portugal manager has been raving about the talent of one Ibrox ace.
