James McFadden blasts Alfredo Morelos attitude live on Sky Sports in 3-0 Rangers win v Celtic

James McFadden laid waste to Alfredo Morelos for his “dreadful” attitude shown throughout this season, ahead of what will be a “huge” summer for the Rangers.

The Gers produced a terrific statement win at Ibrox as they triumphed 3-0 in an enthralling game after goals from Todd Cantwell, John Souttar and Fashion Sakala handed Michael Beale his first win over the Hoops as Rangers boss.

Morelos looks set to depart Ibrox this summer and former Rangers striker McFadden questioned the Colombian’s “dreadful” attitude which simply hasn’t helped Beale’s squad planning for the future.

Rangers

Speaking live on Sky Sports coverage of the Old Firm derby clash [13 May, 11:49am], he said: “It’s a huge summer for Rangers, I imagine there’s never an easy job coming in to work at Rangers or Celtic for that matter.

“It’s never easy but he’s come into a club that has been needing that rebuild since he came in. He’s been having players that have their eye on moves elsewhere, you see that with Ryan Kent and Morelos not committing to contract negotiations.

“Morelos with the attitude that he’s shown in the last few weeks, in fact this season, has been dreadful so that’s a hard thing to manage because you’re trying to be competitive in the league, you’re trying to stay in the cups and win something, you need to get the best out of the players that you have until the transfer window.

“But, he will have learned a lot about the players in the building already, he will have his eye on big targets in what’s a huge summer for him.”

Future planning

The calls to drop Morelos are understandable given his worrying knack for flattery under the weight of expectation in a Rangers shirt, especially in crucial games against Celtic this season.

McFadden is absolutely right, Morelos’ attitude simply hasn’t helped Beale one bit, with the former QPR manager looking to fully transform this squad into his image.

Rangers

The call to drop him ahead of the Celtic clash is the correct call seeing as he has no future at Ibrox and with Beale on one eye for next season, he needs to work on players who want a future with the Light Blues and don’t have their heads elsewhere.

And it certainly seemed the correct decision as his Rangers side seemed to be more expansive and dangerous without him.

Nonetheless, to lose two quality players on free deals is such a massive blow when they could well have used a proper sale to significantly bolster their squad ahead of next season.

In other Rangers news, a £20million transfer budget has been mooted to complete all of the necessary business during the window.
