Chris Sutton mocks ‘brilliant’ Rangers after 3-0 Old Firm win v Celtic

Chris Sutton has mocked Rangers after Michael Beale’s side beat Celtic 3-0 at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon in the Scottish Premiership.

Goals from Todd Cantwell, John Souttar and Fashion Sakala saw the Light Blues to their first win over the Bhoys during the 2022/23 season.

Sutton has since taken to Twitter and has praised Beale’s men for beating the “Celtic reserves”.

“Well done Rangers on winning the Doesn’t Matter Trophy against Celtic Reserves. Brilliant stuff,” wrote Sutton (13 May).

Positive end

Rangers had to get the job done on Saturday. There was no other alternative. Losing to a second-string Celtic side with no away following would’ve been a bad way to end the season. Despite Ange Postecoglou making a couple of changes, this result will give the Light Blues’ new faces plenty of confidence heading into the new campaign.

The Gers are judged on how they compete against Celtic. This season has been dreadfully below par. They’ve lacked composure in the vital moments and that’s why the Hoops have secured yet another league title.

Rangers

The 2023/24 season has to be different. Rangers cannot afford to start slowly. The first Old Firm fixture will be upon us by the start of September and it’s essential that Beale has all his summer recruits integrated ahead of time. Trophies are required next season.

A huge summer is now upon us and with plenty of deals in the offing, there’s plenty of reasons for the Gers to be positive heading into the off-season.

In other Rangers news, the club have had years to decide on a player who could be crucial for the future and must know what comes next in a busy summer.
