Celtic slammed as pundit shares Rangers 'when it mattered' verdict after Old Firm win

Tam McManus has slammed Celtic after the Bhoys were beaten 3-0 by Rangers during Saturday’s Old Firm clash at Ibrox.

Goals from Todd Cantwell, John Souttar and Fashion Sakala saw the Gers record their first win over Celtic during the 2022/23 season.

McManus has reacted to the result and questioned why Rangers didn’t show the same “quality” and “bravery” during the season’s previous Old Firm clashes.

“Rangers better team on day and deserved to win. Celtic miles off levels reached & few of the fringe players not going to be good enough going forward,” said McManus (Twitter, 13 May).

“Rangers fans will wish the team had shown the same quality & bravery when it mattered. A bit like demanding the ball when 4-0 down.”

This win has to be used as a springboard for the Gers. Michael Beale’s side have been edging close to a win over their rivals and Saturday’s win will provide plenty of confidence heading into next season.

Celtic did make changes to their lineup, but they still possess immense quality on the bench and ended the game with their heavy hitters on the field of play. Rangers were far too much for Ange Postecoglou’s men in every single aspect and the fans will be excited heading into the new campaign.

A repeat of a trophy-less season cannot occur. Beale knows what needs to be done in the summer. There needs to be a number of new faces in the Gers’ starting XI for when Rangers next face off against Celtic. Saturday’s result against the Bhoys is the perfect way to head into the off-season.

With a number of players set to come through the door and deals in the pipeline, there’s reason to be positive.
