Rangers injury news as Ben Davies and Ryan Kent ruled out for Celtic clash

Rangers duo Ben Davies and Ryan Kent have been ruled out of action for Saturday’s Scottish Premiership Old Firm derby against Celtic, Michael Beale has confirmed.

Both players are have proven key Beale stalwarts during his tenure and both are facing uncertain futures when the season draws to a close with Kent set to depart Rangers and Davies also being rumoured to leave [Scottish Sun, 9 May].

And it seems as if both players may well have played their last Old Firm derby games in the Scottish Cup semi-final with Beale confirming in his Rangers press conference [12 May] that they will miss the clash at Ibrox.

However, Ryan Jack returns to the side while Alfredo Morelos is available for selection again.

In a tweet posted by Rangers official Twitter account: “MB: Ben (Davies) misses out. Ryan (Kent) has not returned to training as still has an issue.

“Jack comes back in which is great.”

“Alfredo is available for selection, our relationship is honest and there are no issues there.”

End is nigh

The rumours regarding both Kent and Davies don’t seem to be coming to any sort of end, with players looking likely to be wearing different jerseys next season. Though, the Gers are already seeking out potential replacements.

While plenty of Rangers will be wishing to have their futures sorted out in the coming weeks, their absences and potential departures will certainly hurt Beale who has entrusted both players to form key parts of his squad for much of the campaign.

While the former QPR boss did mention that he will likely ring the changes against Celtic, having both Kent and Davies available to him will have been very helpful, but it’s time for other players to step up in their absence.

With nothing to play for against their Old Firm rivals on Saturday, it is a chance for Beale to run the rule over his squad once again, and given the number of disappointing results he’s endured against Celtic, he’s surely desperate for a final positive result against them to send a strong statement for next season.

In other Rangers news, a £20million transfer budget has been mooted to complete all of the necessary business during the window.
