Rangers uncertainty for James Tavernier as Michael Beale eyes Chelsea sensation Dujon Sterling
Rangers have been linked with a move for Chelsea’s Dujon Sterling – and that could well be a concern for James Tavernier moving forward.
The Scottish Sun claim (10 May) the Gers are eager to hijack Stoke City’s move for the flying right back, who has impressed in Staffordshire this season.
The Evening Standard now report (11 May) that Rangers are closing in on a move for Sterling and that could have ramifications at Ibrox.

Sterling would be an excellent addition. He’s still extremely young and has bundles of experience at the likes of Coventry City, Blackpool and Wigan. He would provide some much-needed youth which could be developed at Ibrox.
However, the Chelsea man won’t be moving to Ibrox to play backup. He’s made 28 Championship appearances during the 2022/23 season and will be expecting to start week in and week out. If he does complete his move North of the border, it will almost certainly mean Adam Devine departs on loan.

Tavernier’s future could also be a talking point. The 31-year-old has been a remarkable servant for Rangers, there’s no denying that fact, but his game time could take a significant hit if Sterling comes through the door.
Would Michael Beale be more inclined to develop a player he’s brought to the club as opposed to playing a veteran who is declining?
Furthermore, Tavernier could be part of the problem. There are a number of players who need to move on. His goalscoring record has been immense, but he’s failed to deliver at the vital moments.
Sterling’s potential move to Ibrox and the 31-year-old’s future could well be something to keep a keen eye on.
In other Rangers news, the club are clearly playing a sick joke with their supporters after they made an announcement about a senior player.
