Karlan Grant to Rangers transfer news emerges today from Daily Record

Rangers signing West Brom striker Karlan Grant is very unlikely in the upcoming summer, according to the Daily Record and their information.

Darren Witcoop reported on Wednesday 10 May that the Bears wanted the attacker who cost the English side £15million back in 2020 on a long-term deal.

Michael Beale will be in the market for attackers with Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos and Antonio Colak three of the options likely to move on from Ibrox.

Writing in their live blog from Thursday 11 May, the Daily Record shared the latest news on the hunt for another new striker at Ibrox in the upcoming summer.

“Reports in England claimed Rangers were in for the West Brom man and it would be an ambitious move for the Ibrox side given he cost the Baggies £15m when he signed a six-year deal in 2020,” they wrote.

“Will he pitch up in Govan? Record Sport’s info is that this one isn’t a goer.”

Rangers

Smart.

Given that West Brom agreed a £15million fee for Grant that has still not been paid to Huddersfield, it is likely that we would need to pay over the odds for this one.

John Bennett is going into his first transfer market as the new chairman of the club, and he will need to be smart with how he tackles it and what funds he authorises.

With numerous shareholders all chipping in, there needs to be a common ground found, with the priorities laid out on where to spend the money and where free transfers and loans would be better.

The final third has to be a big priority for the money, but it has to be used wisely in order to make it worth losing the likes of Morelos and Kent within weeks.

Big wages will have been freed up if they do move on, so that has to be re-distributed to someone who can come in and smash in more than 20 goals a season consistently.

Rangers have missed that for far too long now, and that has to be the main aim – is Grant that man? Definitely not.

In other Rangers news, a green light has been given for the Bears to complete yet another new transfer this summer
