Robby McCrorie wows BBC Sportscene pundit in Rangers win vs Aberdeen amid questions about Ibrox future
Neil McCann was delighted by Robby McCrorie’s “really brilliant” performance in goal for Rangers in the 1-0 win over Aberdeen on Sunday (7 May).
The Light Blues third-choice keeper came into the starting line up and kept out a number of big opportunities for the likes of Duk and Bojan Miovski to record a clean sheet.
Todd Cantwell eventually scored the only goal of the game as the Gers got three meaningless points, but the Ibrox keeper may have put himself in contention for the starting job next season.

Summing up the chances that the Dons had on BBC Sportscene (7 May, 43m 5s) McCann said: “I thought Robby McCrorie in goal had a really brilliant game for Rangers, he’s waited a long time for that opportunity.
“But he’d had liked it to have been quieter.”
Audition
With Allan McGregor expected to retire and Jon McLaughlin surplus to requirements for Michael Beale the coast is clear for the long-time Rangers back up to finally get his chance.
The SPFL title has gone and there are no more trophies available to the Light Blues so McCrorie surely starts the rest of the games between now and the summer.
It is still early days and Beale might have tagged Jack Butland as his number one for next season already ahead of a heavily-mooted move for the former England keeper.

But if McCrorie is content to move up the pecking order and get semi-regular action in cups and as second choice he likely put himself in his manager’s thoughts with his saves at Ibrox this weekend either way.
It was only his third senior appearance for the club and he is yet to concede a goal in that time, including a clean sheet in the Old Firm derby last season.
So the former Livingston and Queen of the South loanee has done just about as much as can be asked of him in the small body of work he has in the first-team, and barring a nightmare finish to the season is sure to be in the frame for the job next year.
In other Rangers news, two rival goal-machines have been linked with potential Ibrox moves ahead of the transfer window opening.
