Rangers 'poised' to seal deal for Norwich midfielder Kieran Dowell - Chris Jack

Rangers are “poised” to seal the signing of Norwich City midfielder Kieran Dowell on a free transfer, according to The Herald’s Chris Jack.

The Daily Record reported on 30 April that the 25-year-old has completed his medical ahead of making the move north of the border.

Furthermore, the Canaries confirmed in a statement on their website on Friday afternoon (5 May) that Dowell would be leaving Carrow Road.

Jack has since reported (The Herald, 8 May) that Dowell is poised to complete his move to Ibrox in what will be a “significant” summer of change in Govan.

Wheels in motion

It’s clear the wheels are now in motion when it comes to Beale’s summer recruitment drive. The Rangers boss has been fairly non-committal when it comes to his plans. One week he’s suggesting there will be a significant overhaul, the next he’s saying some of the current crop could remain.

Recent performances have shown that Beale needs to complete major surgery on his squad. Alfredo Morelos wants to depart. Ryan Kent looks disinterested and not up to scratch. Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack are past their best. Allan McGregor should’ve called it a day last year.

There’s a lot of work that needs to be done. Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin look like excellent additions. They’ve gained plenty of experience during the second half of the 2022/23 season, including a number of games against Celtic. It will put them in good stead.

The pressure is firmly on Beale to deliver during the off-season.

In other Rangers news, this player was slammed for being “poor” in the clash with Aberdeen on Sunday.
