Chris Sutton calls for Rangers to give Celtic guard of honour after securing Scottish Premiership title

Chris Sutton has continued his tirade of mockery against Rangers after Celtic secured their second consecutive title win on Sunday (7 May).

Rangers claimed a 1-0 win over Aberdeen at Ibrox but Celtic’s 2-0 win over Hearts meant they are now uncatchable in the title race, which led to Sutton firing shots at Michael Beale immediately after the result was confirmed.

But he continued his taunting later in the evening too when looking for questions for BBC 5 Live Sport (7 May), and took to his personal Twitter account to mock Gers fans.

“Celtic crowned champions but have Rangers closed the gap?” he asked.

“Should Celtic get a guard of honour at Ibrox next week?

“Should Celtic be allowed away fans next week at Ibrox as it won’t be a sell out?”

No chance

Celtic are the champions but this is something that everyone has been expecting since before Christmas, so it’s pretty boring for them.

But hoping for a guard of honour from us at our ground? Absolutely zero chance, whether they’re champions or not. Even if they won every game from now until the end of time that wouldn’t be happening.

Rangers
Chris Sutton has been a vocal critic of Rangers.

As for the comments about the game not being a sell out, that’s rubbish too. Rangers fans will be there in their thousands to support the team no matter what.

There would be absolutely nothing better than getting one over on this lot as soon as they’re crowned champions to stop their party early, and show we mean business for next season.

If that isn’t motivation enough for these players and the manager, then Rangers is probably not the right club for them for beyond the final few games of this campaign.
