Pundit blown away by ‘unbelievable’ Todd Cantwell after what he saw in Rangers v Aberdeen

Andy Little was blown away by an “unbelievable” finish from Todd Cantwell, to secure the only goal of the game to secure Rangers’ 1-0 victory over Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon.

The former Norwich City man executed a sublime volley back across a packed goalmouth, following a James Tavernier corner, to the delight of the Ibrox crowd.

Cantwell earned himself the man of the match award, as well as picking up another yellow card, in the Scottish Premiership contest.

Speaking on Rangers TV on Sunday (7 May, 04:25pm), Little said: “Unbelievable. You have to watch that one right down onto his foot. This is so, so difficult. It’s a side-foot volley, almost. He gets the knee over it, keeps it down and finds the far post.”

It was a superb strike, showing what the talented midfielder is capable of.

Rising expectations

Following his January switch to Ibrox, Cantwell has already installed himself as a key man for Michael Beale’s team and that will please the manager.

He was expected to come in and make an impact, which he has done but the truth is that there is much more to come from the 25-year old and he will have to meet the rising expectations.

The Norfolk-born player exudes self-confidence and that is a trait required in order to thrive under the pressure in Glasgow. He should benefit from a full pre-season in the months ahead, knowing that the stage is set for him to perform, at Ibrox.

He appears to be the type of player who will do quite well in European games, but it is the bread and butter of the Scottish Premiership that matters most.

Next up is the final contest of the season against Celtic and a great chance for Cantwell to register another signal of intent.

In other Rangers news, £3.4 million international player investment is on the line at Ibrox.
