David Edgar rages at Fashion Sakala after what he saw in Rangers 1-0 win v Aberdeen

Official Rangers partner Heart and Hand podcast have lost patience with Fashion Sakala after his performance against Aberdeen on Sunday (May 7).

Sakala was selected as the starting number nine for the game at Ibrox ahead of Alfredo Morelos who was named on the bench, with Ianis Hagi, Rabbi Matondo and Todd Cantwell tasked with supplying him chances.

The Zimbabwe ace had several chances in the first half to break the deadlock but couldn’t find a way past Roos, and David Edgar was quick to make his feelings clear.

“Sakala misses too many chances,” he wrote on the official Twitter account (7 May).

“Really is that simple.”

Not good enough

Sakala has proven himself to be a very capable winger in Michael Beale’s system since the Englishman’s arrival as manager, but is he good enough to start week in and week out?

The answer you’ll get from most Rangers fans is a big, fat no because he just doesn’t deliver consistently enough when the responsibility is on him to do so.

Rangers

So far this season he has managed eight goals but at 26-years-old he isn’t an up and coming talent who is likely to improve greatly in the future.

If the club are serious about a big rebuild then he could easily be one of those allowed to move on, but he could also stick around as a squad option.

It’s clear as day now though that Sakala isn’t good enough to be a regular starter at Ibrox if we want to be as successful as we have been in the past. He’s just not of the level required.
