Rangers transfer news: Agent of Ibrox-linked Luis Palma talks up summer exit plans

Luis Palma is looking to move this summer as more than 10 teams queue up for the Rangers target, according to his agent Paulo Hernandez.

A report from Transfer Geeks on 5 May claimed that the Light Blues are leading the race for the 23-year-old, a week after reporting on 28 April that the club was rushing through a €5million [£4.3million] bid to beat the rush, and meeting the asking price would make it “certain” the attacker heads to Ibrox.

Now, Hernandez has confirmed that there is indeed a rush for the Aris player, while talking up the prospect of him leaving the Greek side this summer.

In an interview with La Prensa in the Honduran winger’s home country Hernandez said: “The European market is just beginning to stir and the normal thing is that if he remains healthy for the remaining games, he has two games left, what we hope is that Luis will be a sale in the transfer market this summer…

“The footballer’s dream, and mine as the player’s agent [is] to take a leap forward and go to a more competitive league and competitive team…

“Today there are teams that are actively asking about his situation… I tell you that there are more than 10 teams actively asking… In fact we have already discarded options from teams that have asked us or that have made approaches, knowing that for us they are options that do not interest us.”

Door open

The race is a heated one and indications are that Rangers are well placed to win it, but until any deal is signed and announced nothing can be taken for granted.

There is almost certain to be a gaping hole on one wing at Ibrox next season amid the presumed departure of Ryan Kent, and if reports are accurate it looks like Michael Beale wants Palma in that gap.

If the price is as stated then it raises questions over how much is available in total, with Malik Tillman’s similar £5million price tag seen as potentially prohibitive to a permanent deal from Bayern Munich.

Whatever the club can muster is likely to be needed for the manager to get the players in he thinks can mount a challenge on Celtic next season.

And whoever he can secure is going to have to combine to make a greater impact than last season’s transfer haul when Giovanni van Bronckhorst was in charge.

Widespread injury issues rendered a number of the signings afterthoughts, and a trophy-less campaign is the result.

Palma certainly appears to be on the move according to his agent, so the chances of him coming to Glasgow look relatively strong.

In other Rangers news, a £20million budget verdict has emerged amid a call for 12 signings this summer at Ibrox.
