Andy Walker slams Rangers for Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos transfer sagas, makes Celtic comparison

Andy Walker has urged Rangers to be more like Celtic in the transfer window as they’re letting Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos leave for free.

The former Celtic striker has waxed lyrical over the Hoops as they managed to make a profit from Odsonne Edouard’s sale to Crystal Palace.

He believes that Gers could’ve got up to £30million for Kent and Morelos combined and letting them leave for free is a blunder.

Rangers

Walker told Go Radio, “I have no problem with any player honouring their contract but I think Rangers have played this one

“These players, both of them, were worth a lot of money a couple of years ago. And if the answer is they had to keep them to win the title a couple years ago and stop Celtic doing 10-in-a-row, maybe that is the price Rangers have paid but my goodness it is a high one.

“I think you could have got something between £10-£15m for Ryan Kent and similar for Alfredo Morelos a couple of years ago when they were at their peak. It’s a lot of money and Rangers need to learn to do business.

“They need to learn how to sell and you look at Celtic, someone leaves tomorrow, there is no real shock as you get someone else in and that has been the way of it. Celtic spent £8 or £9m on Odsonne Edouard and still made money on him.”

Harsh but true

Rangers have been awful in the past few transfer windows and that incompetence has caught up with them on the field of play.

Ross Wilson hasn’t handled the state of transfers well at all and him going gives the club a good chance to reset things.

They can get rid of players they don’t want this summer and hopefully, with Champions League qualification, can secure a decent kitty which can help them strengthen and back Michael Beale in the market.

Rangers

It remains to be seen how many players they do end up signing as Beale has constantly said that there is money to spend and that the club will be bringing in multiple fresh faces.

If they are to catch up with Celtic, they’re going to have to be smarter this summer as Ange Postecoglou’s men are also going to be throwing good money at players.

There’s already a gulf in class in terms of quality and that can grow wider if they do not tend to it this summer.

It’s also important to hire the right person to replace Ross Wilson so that the club can finally move forward and act like a serious club in the market.

In other Rangers news, the club are clearly playing a sick joke with their supporters after they made an announcement about a senior player.
