Journalist speculates Rangers loan move for Bournemouth ace Jaidon Anthony as Ryan Kent replacement

Rangers could make a loan move for Bournemouth ace Jaidon Anthony as a direct replacement for Ryan Kent, according to journalist Robbie Copeland.

Kent is nearing an Ibrox exit, with the winger’s contract at the club expiring at the end of the season.

And Bournemouth winger Anthony has been mooted as a replacement for the former Liverpool youngster for next season.

“One of the key men in Bournemouth’s promotion charge last season, 23-year-old Anthony has been in and out of the team upon their Premier League return but four goals in just 1,400 minutes of football isn’t bad going for a wide man,” Copeland wrote for the Daily Record.

“Right-footed, he prefers coming in on the left as Kent does and could be an option for a loan with an option to buy as Bournemouth look set to stay up.”

Potential option

There will be several players that Rangers boss Michael Beale will be looking at as a direct replacement for the talented Kent, who looks increasingly likely to depart Ibrox this summer.

The Gers will definitely miss the ex-Liverpool man, and may find it difficult to replace his trickery and direct running down the wing.

But with Premier League experience, Anthony could be a good option, particularly if the Cherries are relegated to the Championship.

Their top flight safety has seemingly been secured, but even then, Anthony has struggled to land a regular starting role under Gary O’Neil, an incentive that Beale could use to persuade the 23-year-old to make a temporary switch to Scotland.

The youngster could take inspiration from the likes of Todd Cantwell, who forced through a move to Scotland in order to reignite his promising career.

There is, of course, the added bonus of playing European football at Rangers, something that every player would want to achieve in their careers.
