Fresh Rangers investment on cards despite ‘worrying’ Ibrox scenario – Pundit

Alan Rough believes the recent changes at Rangers could well be the club gearing up for fresh investment in the near future.

Douglas Park, Ross Wilson, Stewart Robertson, and Craig Mulholland have all departed Ibrox in recent weeks.

Rough is concerned with Dave King’s presence, but has suggested new investment could well be on the horizon.

“Other things will come out in the next month before the end of the season,” said Rough (PLZ Football Show, 40m 14s, 3 May).

“I think they’ll be people coming in, maybe new investors. People coming into new positions.

“The only worrying thing for Rangers is that Dave King is still hovering about with a large number of shares. Everybody is waiting to see what he’s going to be doing with them.

“You never know, there might be another consortium out there who want to talk to the board cause we all keep talking about investment in order to challenge Celtic.”

Needed

These changes have been good. There’s no getting away from the fact that alterations were required in the boardroom. Park and Robertson’s time at the top of the club had reached its conclusion. The fan base had made that extremely clear.

Ross Wilson jumped ship at the first opportunity and who can blame him? The fans wanted him gone and, quite frankly, he wanted to escape the barrage of justified criticism. A complete reshuffle is now required and a new majority shareholder could well be a good thing.

Rangers

South of the border, there has been an influx of US investment, and Rangers could well be a gold mind, ready to be plundered. Investors from across the pond are desperate to turn British football clubs into global brands. Rangers’ fanbase means they’re credible a candidate.

With a huge summer ahead, any potential investor would be wise to make a move as soon as possible to give Michael Beale the best chance of completing a sizable squad overhaul.

In other Rangers news, the club are clearly playing a sick joke with their supporters after they made an announcement about a senior player.
