Journalist shares Fresh Rangers investment update after recent Ibrox exits

The Herald’s Hugh MacDonald has revealed Rangers are looking for investment from people who have been on the periphery and within the club in the past.

There have been a number of high-profile departures in recent weeks with Douglas Park, Stewart Robertson and Ross Wilson all leaving Ibrox.

Talking on the PLZ Football Show, MacDonald has claimed he’s made some calls regarding potential future investment.

Rangers

“I’ve made some calls [regarding the recent departures] and one of the things that have become clear, is that they’re wanting not just outside investment, but investment from people who have been on the periphery and within the club already, who may have looked at the club with certain people there and thought we want a new canvas, we want a new strategy,” said MacDonald (PLZ Football Show, 28m 16s, 4 May).

“I am amazed about the level of the clear-out.”

Something is brewing

Something is clearly brewing behind the scenes at Ibrox. The number of departures cannot be a coincidence. It’s clear a heavy hitter within the boardroom wants change, potentially getting the club ready for future investment. It’s what the fans have been clamouring for, and it could well be on the cards.

Furthermore, Michael Beale’s squad rebuild will need some sort of support. The former QPR boss has made some big and bold claims about his summer overhaul. Unfortunately, we all know that busy transfer windows have to be supported financially, and, at present, it remains to be seen just how much backing Beale will receive.

The Gers’ boss is in a favourable position heading into the summer. There’s an opportunity for him to use the remainder of the campaign as an extension to pre-season, in order to assess who he wants to keep in and around his squad.

Nevertheless, the Light Blues boss will have a keen eye on developments in the boardroom, with fresh investment potentially on the horizon.

In other Rangers news, one Sky Sports pundit has boldly claimed it could be “lightyears” before the Gers topple Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
