Chris Jack shares £25m Malik Tillman transfer prediction at Rangers as Bayern Munich update emerges

Malik Tillman is expected to start pre-season training as a Bayern Munich player in the summer despite Rangers having a £5million option to sign him permanently, according to The Herald journalist Chris Jack.

Writing on The Herald website on Thursday (4 May), Jack reported that Tillman, 20, will be watched over by Bayern this summer but there’s “every chance” opportunities will be limited for him next season, opening the door for him to seek a move elsewhere.

It is understood that Rangers need to undergo an overhaul this summer and spending £5million on the USA attacker would take a “considerable chunk” out of Michael Beale’s budget.

However, Jack adds that Tillman could be a player who the Gers make a massive profit on in the future.

He wrote: “Tillman’s value will increase if he is part of a side that is successful domestically under Beale’s tutelage.

“If he can perform on the European stage, his next move would take him back to one of the biggest leagues on the continent and Rangers will be rewarded for their initial investment three, four of rive times over on a player that was an unknown quantity when he arrived at Ibrox.

“The other side of the debate is that such an outlay this summer cannot be justified, no matter how prominent Tillman has been over the course of the campaign and no matter how pivotal he could be for Beale’s side at home and abroad.”

Rangers

It’s not happening

Rangers might not have much money to spend this summer, unfortunately.

When you look at the squad, there aren’t that many players who you could sell for a lot of money with maybe Borna Barisic and Glen Kamara the only viable options because they’ve had suitors in the past and are still under contract.

But selling them wouldn’t rake in a lot of cash with the Gers’ best players of the last few years all set to leave on free transfers due to a case of serious mismanagement behind the scenes at Ibrox.

Tillman isn’t our player, at the end of the day.

Ross Wilson definitely deserves credit for bringing the USA international in at Ibrox and that £5million option-to-buy clause does seem like a good deal for a talented young player who’s definitely going places.

It’s the right deal but it’s at the wrong time for Rangers, unfortunately.

We need to sign players all over the pitch this summer with arguably the two most important positions – goalkeeper and centre-forward – being in need of serious investment.

Another loan deal would be a good option if Beale and whoever’s running transfers these days can strike up that agreement with Bayern but it’s unlikely Tillman, who turns 21 later this month, would accept.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have shaken hands on a deal to sign this Teddy Sheringham-esque attacker in the summer already.
