Journalist predicts ‘fast and physical’ sensation Zak Lovelace to feature for Rangers in pre-season

Rangers youngster Zak Lovelace is “expected to play a part” in pre-season this summer, according to Glasgow World’s Lewis Anderson.

The 17-year-old attacker banged in 15 goals as Rangers B finished second in the Lowland League.

He joined the Gers from Millwall last summer, having made five appearances for the London outfit.

“Signed from Millwall last summer, the striker initially linked up with the club’s academy but quickly made his first-team debut in a League Cup tie against Queen of the South back in August,” Anderson wrote for Glasgow World.

“Has featured among the substitutes in recent weeks and is expected to play a part in pre-season. Very fast and physical.”

Exciting future ahead

There is set to be a major shake-up at Ibrox this summer both on and off the pitch, with manager Michael Beale expecting many incomings and outgoings when the season comes to a close.

It’s been a tough campaign for the Gers, who seemingly have a handful of players who simply aren’t up to the test of competing with Celtic. The Bhoys are coming out on top in various competitions, much to the frustration of Beale and Rangers fans.

And while plenty of money is certain to be spent on new faces, Beale won’t forget about youngsters such as Lovelace, who could be handed some minutes in the first team between now and the end of the campaign.

As for next season, the youngster could either continue his development at Rangers B or be sent out on loan. There is, of course, the third option of the teenager being handed a place in the senior squad, although that seems unlikely.

In other Rangers news, Kris Boyd has blasted one Gers player for contributing “absolutely nothing” to the club this season while presumably being on good wages.
