Rangers could sell Ianis Hagi, John Lundstram, Borna Barisic, Glen Kamara and Ben Davies to add £15m to transfer kitty

Rangers could look to sell five first-team players in order to generate around £15m for their summer transfer kitty, according to a report by the Daily Record (1 May).

Michael Beale claimed there could be as many as a dozen transfers at Ibrox this summer as he looks to undertake the biggest rebuild in recent memory at the club.

And now the Daily Record have named five first-team players who could be allowed to leave in order Rangers to earn some more money and add that to Beale’s budget for the summer.

The report suggests that the club could cash in on Ianis Hagi, who has failed to make an impact under Beale and has attracted £3m interest from Celta Vigo.

Borna Barisic and John Lundstram are both entering the final year of their deals and the club would be open to listening to offers. Barisic cost £2.2m when he signed in 2018 while Lundstram joined on a free, and Rangers would want to earn around £3m for both players combined.

Glen Kamara is another player who could leave, but it would likely be for “significantly less” than the £10m fee that was floated last summer, while the club could look to turn a profit on the £4m they spent on Ben Davies last year.

Sensible

The players listed above, barring Hagi could all quite easily be replaced at Ibrox this summer if the club did their job properly and went to work early on targets.

Barisic and Lundstram have already been replaced somewhat by Ridvan Yilmaz and Nicolas Raskin, although further replacements would be needed for squad depth and cover. But that would cost significantly less than they would be hoping to receive.

Kamara is out of favour and any money received for him would be a bonus too because his form over the last 12-18 months has been a shadow of what we became used to.

Then you have Davies who has struggled to really convince since joining, although he has been a favourite of Beale’s alongside Connor Goldson.

There is money to be made and if done properly this summer could be the perfect time for Beale to shape the squad in his own image while also ensuring we’re not in the same position with contracts next year as we are this.

It’s going to be a very busy summer, filled with big decisions and the club cannot get them wrong.
