Kris Boyd slams Todd Cantwell after antics in Scottish Cup defeat v Celtic
Kris Boyd has slammed Todd Cantwell after the Light Blues midfielder tried to get the Rangers fans going during the Scottish Cup defeat to Celtic.
Jota’s first-half header was the deciding moment as Ange Postecoglou’s side booked their place in the final, where they will face Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Cantwell started for Michael Beale’s side at Hampden Park and Boyd has suggested the midfielder should focus on making an impact in the big moments, instead of winding up the crowd.

“You go right through the team, I think Raskin and Cantwell look as if they could potentially be two good signings,” Boyd told Sky Sports (quoted by Football Scotland, 1 May).
“But I think Cantwell needs to focus on what he does on the pitch, rather than trying to wind up the Rangers fans to get them going.
“Make a name for yourself on the pitch. There’s no doubt he’s a talented footballer, but he needs to be doing more, especially in those games.”
Promising
Cantwell has made a promising start in a Rangers jersey. The former Norwich man clearly has the ability to make things happen in an attacking sense but is tey to reach his full potential.
He’s a player who could make the difference in the big moments against Celtic. Sunday’s clash will be beneficial to Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin in the long term, but right now, everyone at Ibrox is under intense scrutiny.
Defeats against the Bhoys have to be analysed with intense scrutiny. At present, Postecoglou’s men are beating the Gers whilst not being anywhere near their best, which is a huge concern.

Rangers have dominated large periods of games, but their ability to gift goals and remain ineffectual in attack means there’s still a significant gap between the two sides. The summer transfer window is absolutely vital and Beale knows he cannot slip up on the transfer front. The pressure if firmly on his shoulders.
