Medical passed: Kieran Dowell set to sign for Rangers as three-year contract update emerges

Michael Beale has all but completed his first summer signing at Rangers with Kieran Dowell agreeing to join from Norwich, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported on Saturday night (29 April) that Dowell, 25, has already completed a medical with the Light Blues and will sign a three-year deal with the Scottish Premiership club once his deal at Norwich expires in June.

Beale is already said to have met the former Everton midfielder.

Deal all but done

We’re not sure about this one.

Norwich are releasing Dowell after three years, in which he’s scored 12 goals and supplied six assists in 75 appearances.

He’s played 19 times in the Premier League in that time, with one goal and one assist coming in those games as Norwich were relegated in 2021/22.

The ex-Everton starlet was in and out of the Canaries’ squad in the English top-flight.

He’s also been injured since February with a knee ligament issue.

Rangers and Celtic fans watching their teams play

Do Rangers really need to be signing an injured player who’s not good enough for the Premier League and that a Championship club is willing to release?

We’ve said this before but Celtic are signing international players for cash yet we’re content with going after injury-prone crocks who’ve never made a mark in the English Premier League.

Dowell might be good but we’re not convinced it’s that good of a signing.

There’s still not much creativity behind the scenes at Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, an injury rumour scare has emerged ahead of the Old Firm on Sunday.
