Rangers to invest £5m Malik Tillman fee on Celtice ace Kyogo Furuhashi-esque striker - Sky Sports pundit

Kris Boyd believes that Rangers should not pay £5million to Bayern Munich for Malik Tillman and instead bring in someone like Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi.

The United States international is on loan from the defending Bundesliga side and it will cost them £5million to make the deal permanent.

However, Boyd, a Sky Sports pundit, has urged the club against doing that.

He told the Scottish Sun, “In the second half, Malik Tillman went AWOL. It was another vital game when he failed to turn up when needed.

“And I genuinely don’t think I would be willing to pay Bayern Munich £5million to make his loan deal permanent.

“The bulk of Beale’s budget should be used to bring in a proven No 9. Teams live and die by the quality of their centre-forward.

“Rangers need to find their own version of Kyogo Furuhashi and they need to do it this summer or it could be a barren few years.”

Do both

Tillman has been one of Rangers’ best players this season and it’s strange that Boyd does not want them to make the move permanent.

He’s a versatile player who’s still only 20 and will get better in the coming years so it’s an investment worth making.

Even he would want the move as he’s not going to be a first-team regular and will spend his time on the bench if he stays in Bavaria.

At 20, if he is to progress and reach his true potential, he needs to be playing regularly and that’s going to happen if he stays at Ibrox.

Michael Beale has said that there is money to get new players in and they need to spend as much as they can in order to bridge the gap to Celtic.

Tillman’s the kind of player that teams can be built around so frankly Boyd is not completely aware of just how much he brings to this side.

In other Rangers news, the club are clearly playing a sick joke with their supporters after they made an announcement about a senior player this week.
