Ryan Kent and Connor Goldson team news emerges for Rangers showdown v Celtic

Rangers boss Michael Beale has confirmed that both Ryan Kent and Conor Goldson have returned to training ahead of Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final showdown with Celtic [30 April].

The Glasgow rivals face off at Hampden on Sunday [30 April] with Celtic chasing the chance of a treble while Rangers look for their first silverware and win over the Hoops under Michael Beale’s management.

And in his press conference [28 April] ahead of the game, Beale confirmed his key duo has returned to training but there still remains some doubts as to whether they would be fit enough to start the match.

In a tweet published by the Rangers Official Twitter page [28 April], Beale said:

“Goldson, Wright, Kent and Lowry all trained.

“We just need to see how they react now and assess after returning today to training.”

Hope

Beale’s update certainly won’t be filling Rangers fans with much hope regarding the fitness of two of his biggest stars.

The Gers have suffered dramatically especially with Goldson’s injury trouble, with Beale seeing his defence significantly weakened as a result and if the 30-year-old isn’t fit for Sunday’s bout then Rangers can certainly kiss their first major gong under Beale’s management goodbye.

Goldson has proven the cream of the crop in the Rangers back-line all season, with the likes of Ben Davies even performing better with him in the team.

However, the former Liverpool man hasn’t enjoyed the same form alongside the struggling John Souttar and how the Rangers fans will be praying that isn’t the centre-back pairing Beale is forced to call upon on Sunday, or else Rangers are in real trouble.

Kent’s injury has been another blow for Rangers, though Beale will argue he has very capable options to potentially fill the void should the exit-linked star miss out on Sunday.

Whatever happens, Rangers will be better for having both players fit and firing on Sunday, because this clash will certainly define their position as real challengers to Celtic for next season under Beale.

In other Rangers news, the club are clearly playing a sick joke with their supporters after they made an announcement about a senior player this week.
