Colin Stewart big fan of Man United goalkeeper Jack Butland with double Rangers exit on the cards for summer
Rangers goalkeeping coach Colin Stewart is a “big fan” of Manchester United goalkeeper Jack Butland, according to the Daily Record.
The newspaper claims that the former Stoke City and Crystal Palace shot-stopper is being considered by the Gers this summer.
His potential signature comes amid likely exits for current Rangers goalkeepers Allan McGregor and Jon McLaughlin.

“Manchester United back-up Jack Butland is among the options that are being considered for a new shot-stopper,” according to the Daily Record.
“Rangers goalkeeping coach Colin Stewart is a big fan of the former England squad player, while Beale has also been linked with a move for Norwich City midfielder Kieran Dowell.
“Beale is also looking to offload and will free up budget by moving some of his existing squad. With a goalkeeper amongst the priorities, Jon McLaughlin is likely to be made available this summer, while Allan McGregor is also out of contract.”

Big summer ahead
McGregor has been a superb servant to Rangers over the years, and his absence would absolutely be felt both on and off the pitch if he does hang his boots up at the end of the season.
McLaughlin has also served the club very well in recent times, performing admirably when given the opportunity but also helping keep things competitive between the sticks.
His efforts have undoubtedly helped McGregor stay as sharp as possible, but it seems that he could be one of the unfortunate ones moved on this summer in order to free up space and money for new signings.
But both McGregor (41) and McLaughlin (35) are approaching the end of their careers, with the Gers in need of some younger shot-stopping talent that will provide a long-term solution to the ageing problem.
At 30, Butland represents an ideal replacement to come to Ibrox this summer and serve as the club’s number one for many years.
In other Rangers news, a former Celtic manager has accused the Gers of taking on the mantle of “paranoia” after their complaints about Alfredo Morelos’ disallowed goal in the last Old Firm derby.
