Early Rangers team news v Celtic with new Connor Goldson and Ryan Kent updates
Rangers are set to benefit from the return of key players for the Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic on Sunday with as many as seven coming back, as reported by Football Scotland.
The important duo of Connor Goldson and Ryan Kent are expected to feature in the Hampden showdown, following their respective injury layoffs.
Gers boss Michael Beale previously stated that this fixture was the aim for the influential pair to come back into the team, although four of them will miss out.
If Rangers are to secure a second successive Scottish Cup final appearance, they will need the big players to turn up including Goldson and Kent.
With a lack of recent match fitness, it will be asking a lot for them to sustain a high level for the duration of the game, which could extend into extra-time like last season’s meeting at the same stage.
“There are a few players still out of action including midfielder Ryan Jack as confirmed by Beale last week”, stated the report.

“The midfielder has not featured since the 3-2 Parkhead defeat on April 8 and will sit this one out, too. Leon King and Alex Lowry are expected back while Ridvan Yilmaz and Antonio Colak could also return, at least to the bench. As could Scott Wright.
“Kemar Roofe is out as is Tom Lawrence and Filip Helander.”
No surprises
Winner takes it all, or at least that is what is most likely to happen in this Scottish Cup semi-final, with the other tie featuring Inverness Caledonian Thistle v Falkirk.
Given the disparity in resources, the winner of the Old Firm contest will most likely go on to lift the trophy meaning a redemption of sorts for Rangers or a treble for Ange Postecoglou’s team.
Beale is out to get the better of the Australian at the fourth time of asking but there will be no surprises in the personnel available for the Gers and especially not in the starting line-up.
Beyond the key duo named above, the only further returning players will be squad options like Colak and Wright, in addition to Rabbi Matondo, Ianis Hagi and Ridvan who have made the squad over the last couple of matches.
The manager is set to confirm the latest situation with the squad at the press conference on Friday.
