John Bennett on board with key investors at Rangers for changes from Douglas Park
New Rangers chairman John Bennett is in line with fellow key investors following big changes at the club, as reported by the Scottish Daily Mail [Page 69, 26 April].
A more dynamic approach and better communication are set to follow after the headline news yesterday that existing commercial director James Bisgrove would replace the outgoing managing director Stewart Robertson, under the new title of chief executive officer.
It represents a further significant change at Ibrox ahead of a critical new campaign, on and off the pitch, in which the executive team as well as manager Michael Beale will feel the expectation to deliver from the supporters.

In his article for the Mail, Mark Wilson touched on some of the motivations for the new regime on Edmiston Drive.
“Bennett himself only stepped up to the role of chairman from deputy at the start of this months after Douglas Park’s resignation,” he wrote.
“Greater dynamism and improved communication are thought to be two desires he shares with other key investors.”

Change must deliver success
Wilson is correct to point out that a large section of Rangers fans have got the change that they were pushing for in recent times.
That difference relates to the running of the club and matters in the boardroom but the driving factor is and will always be, what is happening on the pitch. Unfortunately for the directors, there is no hiding place when the club is not winning and in Glasgow, if you are not first, you are last.
There will be a great responsibility on Beale to deliver in the new season, even more than in Sunday’s huge clash against Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final, so the onus is on Bennett, Bisgrove and the rest to properly equip the manager to deliver.
As a lifelong fan and key investor himself, chairman Bennett is perfectly positioned to know what is required and what can be done, now it is all about making it happen.
In other Rangers news, this Scottish football pundit has backed a ‘top-level’ target who is ready to seal Ibrox move.
