Rangers chairman John Bennett still to set date to meet Club 1872 despite £250,000 development

Rangers chairman John Bennett is reportedly still to set a date to meet with Club 1872 after Douglas Park stepped down without meeting them.

According to Glasgow Times journalist Chris Jack [24 April], Bennett, who succeeded Park as Gers chairman, will not be sticking to the date Park had set for the meeting.

This comes after 1872 completed a £250,000 share purchase to move through the five per cent Rangers shares threshold and become the ninth-largest investor.

No more hiding

If Bennett is to show that he’s the right man for the job, he’s got to set this meeting up sooner rather than later.

Club 1872 are well within their rights to demand a conversation with the man in charge and question some of the decisions of the past and the plans for the future.

They represent the qualms of most Rangers fans and it’s always good to get the person at the top of the food chain on the record about certain things.

If Bennett is to guide this club to a successful era, he cannot hide from fans and it’s got to be a more transparent system behind the scenes.

Every club has power concentrated in the hands of few, and that’s perfectly normal, but they’ve got to explain the big decisions and ensure that it’s taken in the best interest of the majority of the fans.

For a number of years, that’s not what has been happening and it can change very soon if Bennett decides to take the steps.

In other Rangers news, the club may now approach a sporting director who built a Champions League winning team and can hire him for free.
