Sky Sports report details desperation of Rangers players

Rangers players will be “desperate to impress” manager Michael Beale on their trip to Aberdeen on Sunday (23 April), according to Sky Sports.

The match will serve as an audition for various players vying for a starting role for the Scottish Cup match against Celtic later this month.

Beale’s side currently sit second in the Scottish Premiership table, with Aberdeen recently climbing above Hearts into third.

Rangers

“On Sunday it is up to Aberdeen who are flying under Barry Robson and six straight wins sees them five points ahead of Hearts in the race for third,” according to Sky Sports.

“Rangers know the title race is all but over but the players will be desperate to impress Michael Beale ahead of next weekend’s Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic at Hampden Park.”

Important period

While many Rangers supporters may have given up on the Scottish Premiership pursuit of fierce rivals Celtic, there is still plenty to play for this season.

That begins with the trip to Aberdeen, with the Gers aiming to keep the pressure on the Bhoys for as long as possible.

Form is also important in this regard, with Beale wanting his players to be extremely confident going into the Scottish Cup semi-final clash with Celtic at the end of the month.

Supporters will also want to be up for that encounter at Hampden Park, and their spirits will undoubtedly be lifted if the Gers can take three points away from Pittodrie.

But with Aberdeen going very strongly under Robson, getting three points will not be a straightforward task.

The home side will be relishing the high-profile clash, and their supporters will be in full voice in order to push their side to a seventh straight victory.

In other Rangers news, Kris Boyd believes Aberdeen’s appeal of Graeme Shinnie’s recent red card was a “calculated move” ahead of their match against the Gers.
