Rangers transfer news as QPR striker Lyndon Dykes remains top target for Michael Beale
QPR striker Lyndon Dykes remains a top target for Rangers this summer as Michael Beale eyes a reunion, according to Daily Mirror journalist Darren Witcoop.
The two worked together previously at Loftus Road before Beale was snapped up by Rangers in November and it didn’t take long for the Gers to be linked with a January move [Football League World, 14 December] for the 27-year-old.
This season, the Australian-born Scottish international striker has netted eight goals in 36 Championship games, and according to Witcoop taking to his personal Twitter account [21 April], Dykes remains on the Light Blues’ shopping list for the summer.
He tweeted: “QPR striker Lyndon Dykes remains a top target for Rangers. Gers boss Michael Beale is a big fan of the Scotland striker and has Dykes on his summer shopping list as he eyes a reunion.”
Decent option
With Dykes entering the final 12 months of his deal at Loftus Road, this may be a chance for Beale to potentially snap up his former player on the cheap this summer, and given the understanding between the two, this could well set to be a decent move for Rangers.
With Alfredo Morelos set to depart Ibrox this summer, Beale will be desperate for striking targets for next season and Dykes represents a viable target. However, scoring just eight goals in over 30 Championship games shows the Scottish international probably won’t be a direct replacement for Morelos but an alternative option.

Rangers desperately need to replace Morelos’ goals with more goals, and Dykes isn’t one to bag 20 goals a season – a striker perfectly capable of scoring the chances needed for the Gers to potentially topple Celtic next season.
There are potentially more potent and clinical options out there but given Dykes’ mentality, experience and knowledge of Beale’s style, he would be a great addition to come in and help the club’s cause for next season.
