Rangers transfer news as Champions League plot behind plans at Ibrox

Michael Beale has the Champions League firmly on his mind in his transfer plans, as reported by Football Scotland.

The Rangers boss will be in the driving seat regarding new signings over the next few months, following the departure of sporting director, Ross Wilson.

Several newcomers are expected as a minimum at Ibrox, with Beale set to go and meet his potential new recruits in the coming weeks.

The off-season period should be an intense one for the former QPR head coach, with plans already set.

“We told you how Beale was plotting ‘four or five’ additions this summer as he hopes to mount a stronger challenge for the Premiership title next season while also competing in the Champions League,” Mark Hendry wrote.

A massive challenge awaits the Rangers manager next season but prior to that, he needs to get the best out of his squad for the two upcoming games against Celtic, which will set the tone for next season.

In terms of preparation, having the team in place for the Champions League qualifiers will also ensure a firm base is ready for the new Premiership campaign. The Gers can’t afford to still be scrambling to complete the jigsaw in August as by that time, the first few games at home and abroad will have taken place.

Beale wants his side to be ready as early as possible, he wants new signings in place for the start of the season [Herald] and that is the template for success.

Get the majority of the business done early, allowing as much time as possible on the training pitch and for the new players to settle in.

It will be a tough ask but the objective is clear, to restore Rangers to the top of the pile in Scotland and to be competitive in Europe.
