Rangers and Aberdeen conspiracy theory shared by Sky Sports pundit, ‘calculated move’ by Dave Cormack

Kris Boyd believes Aberdeen’s appeal of Graeme Shinnie’s recent red card was a “calculated move” ahead of their match against Rangers on Sunday (23 April).

Shinnie was shown a red card in the 95th minute of Aberdeen’s 1-0 win over Ross County on Friday (23 April).

The Dons were angered when their appeal for the red was thrown out by a Scottish FA tribunal, with his ban extended from three to four matches.

“Aberdeen appealed Graeme Shinnie’s red card knowing they’d lose,” said Boyd, as quoted by the Scottish Sun. “They only did it to whip up a storm ahead of their big league clash with Rangers at Pittodrie this weekend.

“It was a timely, calculated move by Dons chairman Dave Cormack and new chief executive Alan Burrows to show the club’s fans they’re one of them.

“To prove they’re prepared to take on the powers-that-be at the SFA and stand up for the club, no matter what.”

Conspiracy theory shared

Rangers legend Boyd is having none of the latest controversy in Scottish football, with the former striker unsurprisingly bringing the Gers into the debate.

The pundit has shared the conspiracy theory that the Dons are only dragging out the issue to create a dialogue in the build-up to their meeting with Rangers this weekend.

Aberdeen are flying high lately, with the club not needing to create such a storm given the fact they have won their last six matches.

That fantastic form has driven the club past Hearts into third place in the table, just one place behind the Gers.

Above all, it is the SFA that will continue to be at the heart of the debate, with the authority continuously attracting criticism from many within Scottish football.

More importantly, on the pitch, there is a huge clash coming up at Pittodrie, where the hosts will want to continue their fine run while the visitors will want to maintain the pressure on league leaders Celtic.

In other Rangers news, Michael Beale is predicted to hand one player a first Gers start in over five months for the trip to face Aberdeen in the SPFL.
