Finance expert details £18.5m boost at Rangers as UEFA document emerges
Rangers earned €21million (£18.5million) for reaching the final of the 2021/22 Europa League, according to finance expert The Swiss Ramble.
The Gers made it all the way to the biggest stage of Europe’s secondary competition last season before losing out to Eintracht Frankfurt on penalties.
Despite the heartbreak, which will still be felt by many at Ibrox, the Gers have been handed a massive £18.5million boost for their efforts.

“In Scotland Rangers earned €21m for reaching the Europa League final, including relatively low figures for TV pool €2.8m and UEFA coefficient €0.9m,” The Swiss Ramble posted on Twitter.
“Celtic received €10m, boosted by UEFA coefficient payment of €3.4m (plus €0.4m from Europa Conference).”

Massive boost
Any financial income in these difficult times for many football clubs will be welcomed with open arms, but this is a huge boost for Rangers, with the fee well-deserved following their strong run in the competition last season.
It remains to be seen exactly where the money goes, and subsequently how much of it will be made available for much-needed summer incomings.
The sales of various players will, of course, bring in some money, but Michael Beale will want to see a large sum of the £18.5million go towards bringing in new faces this summer.
Along with the financial boost, there is the added positive news that fierce rivals Celtic only received half of the total that Rangers received.
The 12-point lead that Celtic currently have at the top of the Scottish Premiership this season should provide the Gers board with enough incentive to spend the money wisely.
League success will always be of huge importance, but the latest figures show just how valuable it can be to enjoy a strong run in European competition, regardless of which tournament it is.
In other Rangers news, Beale is predicted to hand one player a first Gers start in over five months for the trip to face Aberdeen in the SPFL.
