Rangers: Glen Kamara set to be sold as transfer latest emerges from Chris Jack

Rangers and Michael Beale could sell out-of-favour midfielder Glen Kamara in the summer transfer window, according to Chris Jack.

Kamara, 27, was an ever-present in the Gers’ first team during the early stages of Beale’s time at Ibrox, but since the arrival of Nicolas Raskin in the winter window, the midfielder has started just two Scottish Premiership matches.

The 50-capped Finland international, who is currently contracted with Rangers until June 2025, has fallen beneath the likes of Raskin, John Lundstram and Ryan Jack in the heart of midfield over the past weeks.

Writing for Herald Scotland, Jack discussed the current options Rangers possess in the middle of the park ahead of what could be a busy summer transfer window for Beale.

“Nicolas Raskin has quickly made an impression in that area of the park,” he wrote.

“Glen Kamara should be sold in the summer and it remains to be seen what Beale has planned for John Lundstram and more attacking options such as Ianis Hagi, Alex Lowry and Tom Lawrence, once he is finally fit for action once again.”

Tough decision

The future of Kamara at Rangers could be one of the decisions that splits the Rangers fanbase, with the Finland international a popular figure, but one who now looks surplus to requirements.

The 27-year-old was a mainstay in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Gers side, however in recent months, he has been on the periphery of proceedings at Ibrox.

He is still under contract with Rangers for a couple of years, so the club won’t feel obliged to sell the midfielder unless a noteworthy offer is lodged.

Raskin has quickly made himself an undroppable force in Beale’s midfield since joining from Standard Liege in January, and Kamara faces a tough task to supplant him over the duration of the season.

Although Kamara has had a fruitful time at Ibrox over the last couple of years, his time could well be drawing to a close with a summer of change expected after the exit of Ross Wilson and the arrival of Beale.
