Rangers can add to Celtic regrets by signing Los Angeles FC midfielder Jose Cifuentes
Rangers signing Leeds United and Espanyol target Jose Cifuentes from Los Angeles FC this summer can see them adding to Celtic’s regrets.
According to Tom Bogert, who is the MLS reporter for Bleacher Report, Gers are keen on signing the Ecuadorian once the window opens.
Given the fact that his deal runs out at the end of the season, Bogert believes that a number of European clubs will be keen on securing his services.
He wrote, “Have heard Leeds United, Rangers and Espnayol as potential options for LAFC & Ecuador int’l midfielder Jose Cifuentes.
“I’d imagine a lot of teams in Europe are interested with his contract expiring at the end of 2023. Either an undervalued summer transfer or free in the winter.”
In 2019, the midfielder was linked with a move to Celtic and even flirted with the prospect of joining them in what seemed like a come and get me plea.
Per the Daily Record, he said, “I want to have the opportunity to leave for Europe. Celtic is a big club with everything that they play for. I had heard of the club before.”

Four years hence, he’s become a top player in the MLS and is all but certain to take the next step in his career and move to Europe.
Rangers will be looking to replace Ryan Jack whose deal runs out at the end of the season.
Unless there isn’t any breakthrough, he is all but certain to leave and Cifuentes filling into his boots will be ideal for Michael Beale as well as for the club to get one over Celtic.
In other Rangers news, the club may now approach a sporting director who built a Champions League winning team and can hire him for free.
